Do You Have Teams that are Under-Performing?

Many teams are dysfunctional.  Maybe in your team there is a lack of trust that causes members to be secretive and protective over their budgets and other areas of responsibility.  Or perhaps they avoid conflict leading to a lack of openness and honest feedback.

In contrast, an effective, productive team is a winning formula which sets an organisation apart from its competitors.  Creating a team that fires on all cylinders requires commitment and dedication by each team member.  Nurturing a cohesive, committed team, which plays to everyone’s strengths, fosters a positive environment where all members thrive leading to improved results.

As Patrick Lencioni says in his book ‘The Five Behaviours of a Dysfunctional Team’:

‘’Not finance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare’’

The Model

The model is a result of a partnership between Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions and best-selling author Patrick Lencioni.  It is a unique learning experience that helps people discover what it takes to achieve the ultimate competitive advantage of a high performing team.

The Five Behaviours is based around the following premise that a productive, high performing team:

  1. Established trust between team members

2. Engages in constructive conflict around ideas

3. Commits to decisions

4. Holds team members accountable for their actions and performance

5. Focuses on achieving collective results

Each team member takes an on-line assessment tool that provides the team scores against each behaviour.  The team can re-take the instrument at regular intervals to review how their performance is improving.  A unique feature of this assessment tool is that it provides both a team and personality assessment either aligned to Everything DISC or compatible with MBTI.

We are an authorised partner of Wiley who licence this tool, trained to deliver the Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team assessment tool and other team development interventions.  For example, we can work with your team to give feedback as to their results and work with them to deliver an ongoing High Performing Team development plan.
